Corgi gatherings at our home in Woodinville, a suburb of Seattle. This
site is where you'll find the latest information.

At least one of those gatherings, typically around the end of July (statistically the best weather!) or early August is what we
call the "official" Pacific Northwest Corgi Picnic, which then also includes a barbecue and a silent auction for CorgiAid. The
other time or two each year? They're just for fun.

We do try and alternate some between mid-week and weekend events, since we know not everyone can make each.

Our events are open to anyone with a Corgi (Pem or Cardi), and guests are typically welcome, as well as the not-a-corgi family
members. If you're considering a Corgi it's also a great opportunity to see a wide variety of dogs and personalities, and speak
with owners and the occasional breeder in attendance.

The only rule is simple: dogs, adults and children must all be well behaved and "play well with others". The only "un"invites
have been for overly aggressive dogs, and for children who failed to honor dog-owners instructions.

I'm expanding the announcements to cover a wider range of groups. I'll now announce our events on:

The Corgi-L mailing list.

The Kirkland, Wa Meetup Group

The Corgis on Wheels Yahoo Group

My private mailing list for those that want email
notification without being on another list (or in addition to).

MyCorgi.com

And of course you can always check back here for the latest and greatest as well.

For posterity, here's the rest of the original announcement:

And the weather's even cooperating!

So, with that in mind, a couple of requests/reminders:

Parking: I'd recommend parking on the street behind our
home, perhaps by the barn, or if that fills up, the street along side our
house. You're welcome to park in our driveways, but since people do come and go
throughout the afternoon please don't block anyone in.

Chairs: you might want to bring one if convenient. Or plan
on sitting on the ground (i.e. at Corgi-level ).

Poop: Please do scoop up after your pet, but no need for
bags - look for shovels and traffic cones. Underneath each traffic cone is a
hole specifically for the results of your pet's production.

If you need directions: email me. I don't post or link to
them publicly.

Looks like it'll be a good one. Once again, here are the details:

Saturday August 6th

Noon until we're dog-tired

At Leo & Kathy's home in Woodinville, WA (a Seattle suburb)

The Auction

Items to Donate?

please contact Jean Clements-Macak (jcmacak at gmail.com) who has once
again graciously offered to coordinate the auction.

Bring Money - item donations are nice, but the
point is to raise money, and that means
bidding on and purchasing those donated items at the picnic. At as
high a price as possible. Please come prepared to be generous!

Bring More Money - we'll also have a donataion jar
this year in case you lose the auction you've been bidding in but still want to
leave your cash behind. Or if you just feel like leaving cash behind.

The Picnic

If you've not experienced a PNW picnic or one of our gatherings in recent
years, we have about an acre of fenced yard that turns out to be pretty much
perfect for letting the dogs (and occasionally hoomans) run off a little
steam.

All are welcome: corgis, part corgis and NAC (not-a-corgi) friends. The rule
is simple: all MUST be well behaved, and play well with others - this applies
to both canine and hoomans alike.

We will provide hamburgers, hotdogs and beverages. You're welcome to bring a
snack side-dish to share, but do please be prepared to take leftovers with you,
as we frequently have much more than needed.

Think good thoughts for good weather! The picnic happens rain or shine (how
sad that we even have to think about that this year).

We'd Like Your Feedback!

If you've attended in the past and even if you can't attend this year, we'd
like to ask you a question:

What one thing could we do to make the Pacific Northwest Corgi
Picnic better?

We've been doing this long enough that ... well ... it's possible we're
stuck in our ways. We definitely have tried a few things over the years (games
mostly fizzled, for example; agility equipment was kinda fun when someone
brought some; etc.), but even so, perhaps there are things that we've
overlooked or haven't thought of.

So, if you have an idea - What one thing could we do to make the Pacific
Northwest Corgi Picnic better? - drop me an email on that too: leo <at>
notenboom.org.

We hope to see you at the picnic!

for running the silent auction again this year.

After postponing from the killer heat of two weeks ago I don't think we could have asked for better weather, it was perfect. I
hope everyone had a great time, and look forward to next years picnic. (Check out the "<a href=

If you've not been before, we have about an acre of fenced yard that
turns out to be pretty much perfect for letting the dogs (and
occasionally hoomans) run off a little steam. We also have a large
deck, and this year a new, larger tent/awning (still to be assembled,
but now I have a deadline!).

All are welcome: corgis, part corgis and NAC (not-a-corgi) friends.
The rule is simple: all MUST be well behaved, and play well with others
- this applies to both canine and humans alike.

We will provide beverages. You're welcome to bring a snack to share,
but please be prepared to take leftovers with you, as we always have
more than needed.

PLEASE RSVP by 5/27 so we know how big a Costco run to make. :-)

Directions on request.

One small clarification: this is just a get-together, and not the
"official" Corgi Picnic. That will happen sometime late July, early
August and will include an auction for Corgi-Aid at that time. Same
place, though.

See you 5/30!

This is an announce-only list, not a discussion list, so it's not (yet another) forum for Corgish discussions - there's
plenty of those. I simply send the announcements and reminders to it in the days leading up to each event once a date is
chosen. There are no archives, and email you attempt to send to the entire list should not make it through.

Corgi-L, but would still like to recieve email notification of the
events we put on.

What a great time we had ... estimate of well over
40 Corgis and over 50 people made this perhaps the largest Pacific
Northwest Corgi Picnic ever. And the weather cooperated perfectly - the
sun came out after a cool morning for near-perfect conditions making
for a great get-together.

A few of the photos I took are here on the
Corgi-L photo Gallery (also re-posited on my Flickr photostream). In particular the
panorama of 5 photos stitched together for an over 180 degree view
above will give you a bit of a sense of what the fuss is all about. (Be
sure to click through to full size :-).

I want to thank everyone who came - it was a good time. I also want
to thank Jean Clements-Macak for organizing the silent auction. We
raised over $626 for CorgiAid, another record!
